Biography:  Indiana Brierley is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montréal. He received a DEC from Dawson College in Illustration & Design in 2017 and a Bachelor of Design in Illustration at OCAD University in 2020. Indiana has worked as a muralist, illustrator, album cover artist, all while pursuing his personal studio practice. His work includes a collaboration with local graffiti legend Monke and an album cover for musician R.A.P. Ferreira (fka Milo).From the very beginning, Indy has kept the joy of creating at the very center of his practice, lending his work its characteristic spontaneity, energy, and sincerity




  Process:  While Indiana specializes in mural art, his practice extends into every corner of his life; making use of whatever he has at his disposal to create art. Everything flows as a continuous process from the largest to the smallest artwork, be it a pen drawing in his sketchbook or a full-scale burner. Indiana acts fast and fluidly, layering paint over ink and vice versa. He sifts through chaos and brings his many mediums to life, revealing essential aspects of the human experience with the use of symbols that get enfolded into the physical process. The result is both powerful in its emotion and chaotic in its execution, rendering clear otherwise hidden aspects of his inner world. Indiana’s work is often mystical and fun, mysterious and playful, but it is not limited to the pleasant experiences of life. He manages to confront the viewer with aspects of human psychology and interpersonal dynamics that we might otherwise shy away from — dealing with themes such as depression, anxiety, and codependence, by approaching his subjects with sympathy
